Forgotten Game Friday - Red Faction: Armageddon - Normal Difficulty - Part 2 of 2
Why not have a few drinks while playing old, forgotten games? Whether they're good or bad sometimes depends on how many drinks you've had, anyway.
Contrary to the last sentences in the past 2 games, do NOT skip this one. It gets a lot of flak and I'm not sure why. I have no nostalgia for the any of the Red Faction games; I had played the first 2 games, and enjoyed them but they were by no means games I played in my childhood, or any other period of my life that would elicit nostalgic feelings. I genuinely liked this game, especially after the overbearing annoyance that is Red Faction: Guerrilla.
I think the main reason I enjoyed this game is that it didn't try to be bigger or deeper or more ambitious than the third game - it simply tried to be a third-person shooter played mostly underground. It does that, and it does that well.
The only really annoying thing are the 2 crashes *in the very last set-piece of the game*, which made me wonder if I would be able to finish it. However, everything turned out acceptably.
You'll see through my playthrough why I like the game and its various elements, but here's a quick synopsis: magnet gun is super fun. That is all.
