Assassin's Creed | The Importance of Tone
Tone is very important when it comes to the stories of the Assassin's Creed series. Ever since the first Assassin's Creed, the series has always had a dark/serious tone and narrative. That was a balanced with a few light hearted moments like in Assassin's Creed 2 and Assassin's Creed Black Flag with Ezio and Edward as protagonists. However in the more recent Assassin's Creed games particularly Odyssey and a fair amount in Valhalla too, the tone has felt much lighter and comedic. Odyssey specifically seems to set up a joke whenever possible and for me personally it's more annoying than humorous. It feels like the game isn't taking it's own story and world seriously sometimes which I understand that some people like but personally for me I prefer, deep well thought out and emotional stories. I play these games to witness a mature and emotional story, not for a cheap laugh. That's just my opinion of course and feel free to let me know your thoughts on what tone you prefer in Assassin's Creed games.
