[Today's the 8th anniversary of Assault Android Cactus' official release (23/Sep/2015)! Happy 8th! ^_^]
So... a couple months ago, I realized that the 8th anniversary(!) of AAC's official release was coming up in September... and I started thinking... I'd never actually recorded a full Campaign playthrough with the title character. It's something I'd kinda been meaning to do at some point... but apparently never quite got around to. ^.^;
Perhaps similarly, a VPC3 full Campaign playthrough is also something I'd kinda been meaning to try for a while now...
So I decided to do both. =)
...
So that's basically the short version of the story behind this run (slightly longer version in the Description for the Zone 1 video). =) I had a lot of fun recording it, so... hope you enjoy!
Zone 5 - Nerve Centre:
0:01 5-1: Centrifuge
3:42 5-2: Control
8:32 5-3: Convection
13:22 5-4: Collider
17:16 5-5: Medulla
21:47 (run ends due to battery)
Zone 5 notes:
- Just like for Zones 3 and 4, this is actually the first time I've seen the VPC3 versions of these levels. ^^;
- And similar to Zones 3 and 4, I was a bit more worried about the Boss battle than the normal levels... but I was definitely wary of Collider (if things start to go badly in Collider, they can sometimes go very badly very quickly, especially in the first and last Phases of the level)! Interestingly, though, Collider actually went fairly smoothly overall... so maybe it was Control I should've been wary of instead. ^.^;;
Medulla notes:
- Going into this run, I honestly didn't know for sure whether Cactus could beat the VPC3 version of Medulla (VPC3 Medulla has a lot more health, compared to VPC1, so it essentially becomes a race against the battery). And honestly, given the mistakes I made in the battle, as well as the lack of a clearly-defined VPC3 strategy... Cactus actually made it a lot closer than I was originally expecting! ^.^ In fact, near the end of Phase 7, I was kind of half-expecting yet another "fraction of a second left" Phase-win... but alas, no, not this time. =)
- After the run ended, I did some VPC3 Medulla testing, and... well, long story short, it took a while to determine, but yes, it's definitely possible for Cactus to get to Phase 8 (alas, I made a careless mistake near the end of Phase 7, but without that mistake, Cactus would've made it). =)
- Of course, to get there more consistently, I'd definitely have to adjust and test and adjust and test and refine strategies in the first 7 Phases... and unfortunately, due to the limited amount of free time I'd have before the day the Zone 1 video would be released... I wasn't quite sure if I'd be able to get through that entire process in time.
- Of course, on the one hand, I might... ^^
- ...but on the other hand, I might not. ^^;
- So... yet another long story short, I eventually decided to record something different instead! =) A different Medulla-related challenge that I've been thinking about for a while, but hadn't ever quite gotten around to... and this seemed like an appropriate opportunity, so... =)
- As far as VPC3 Medulla... I'll probably get back to that at some point, though probably not in the immediate future. ^.^
- Anyway, I had a lot of fun recording this VPC3 run, so... hope you enjoyed!
