Astarion Always Chooses to Ascend Automatically

I’ve been seeing some misinformation about Astarion being able to automatically choose to not ascend if you always talked against it. However, that’s not true. He will always choose to ascend unless one of the following happens: At least 1 of his 6 siblings is dead; you make him go alone in the ritual room; you refuse to help him; or you pass a DC 18 Persuasion roll to convince him not to (DC 15 Persuasion only if you first pass a DC 20 Insight check).
As shown in the video, if you leave the playable character behind and have just him and Minthara (or Dark Justiciar Shadowheart) in the ritual room, then he will automatically ascend. I’ve seen videos of people claiming that he chose not to ascend when it turned out that one of the siblings was dead or Astarion wasn’t with someone who would help him see his scars. When one of the other characters (apart from Minthara and DJ Shadowheart) is with him, they will always refuse to help, and he will always leave the party bitterly.
Please excuse the glitches at certain parts. There doesn’t seem to be a way around them.
