Astro Bot was developed by Team Asobi and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Astro Bot is a sequel to PlayStation 5’s Astro’s Playroom and the third title in the Astro Bot series.
Astro Bot is a 3D platformer where a player controls Astro Bot, a small robot, using the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller. Similar to Astro’s Playroom, Astro Bot is able to jump, hover, punch enemies and objects, as well as use a spin attack by charging his punch. Astro’s ability to swim under water returns from Astro Bot Rescue Mission after being absent in Astro’s Playroom.
The game features 80 levels, across 6 galaxies and 50 planets with each level falling under one of three difficulty settings (Easy, Normal and Hard). Main story levels fall under either the easy or normal difficulties, but the optional challenge stages fall under the hard difficulty. The levels also contain a difficulty indicator before entering each level. Astro Bot’s spaceship, called the Dual Speeder, which is shaped in the form of the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller is used by players to traversal between the galaxies and levels. To control the Dual Speeder, a player will hold down the analog triggers while also physically tilting the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller.
