Atari Anthology - PS2 - Swordquest: EarthWorld - Full Playthrough
A full playthrough of Swordquest: EarthWorld.
This is an Atari 2600 title from 1982. You play a hero trying to find the Warrior's Sword, hidden somewhere in EarthWorld. To achieve that you need to find several items scattered about the various rooms, and put those items in other rooms. If you put the correct items in the correct rooms you get a clue (except for clue 1, where you just run through the rooms). Some items have other uses and effects, like an amulet that randomises what room you enter.
When you've found all the clues you get the sword. There is no end, once you have the Warrior's Sword you can carry on exploring EarthWorld, but there'll be no more objectives. Some rooms require you to complete arcade mini-games, though there are certain items that let you skip those or circumvent them.
The clues are linked to a comic book that came with the game. You were supposed to use the clues to find words hidden in the comic that form a sentence. Once you'd figured out the sentence you could send it in to Atari for a chance to win real treasure. The Swordquest series was originally meant to be four games but ended up only being three. The story of the series' treasure contest is too long to go into here, but there are videos out there if you're curious.
Watching someone complete this blind might be tedious, as it would involve lots of trial and error and could potentially take hours. I decided to prepare notes from a guide before attempting this playthrough, but it's still my first time through the game. Even knowing what items go where, there is still some strategy involved in planning your route and making sure you have the useful items with you, plus you still have to mentally keep track of where the objects currently are. It can actually get quite convoluted and complex (especially in the second game, FireWorld), though it might not look it.

I'm going to be dipping into this collection occasionally. I've already recorded all the games in the Adventure category, which I'll be uploading weekly. Playlist here https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLI2o6Uusv62pa8t8pLgvrLNADSTd5MFwk
I'm playing on a 60GB backwards compatible PS3. I'm PAL region, so the video might look smoother with a 50Hz display setting.
