Today we're taking a look back at the ATI Radeon X800 XT Platinum Edition GPU, the fastest of 2004 and one of the most desirable graphics card of the year. With an original $500 price tag, we paid just £6 or $7.50 for this card. Despite it being pretty much obsolete these days, we wanted to give it one final lease of life and take a look at how good it once was.

We paired our X800 XT with a Core 2 Quad Q6600 and 2GB of DDR2 Ram along with Windows 7. The games tested include Far Cry, Half Life 2, Doom 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV.
