ENEMIES DON'T KILL BY TOUCH, ONLY WEAPONS DO DAMAGE! Just like in Arcade and Amiga versions. c64 version is missing some content though as expected such as some monster types and between level scenes. Most flaws found in the c64 port such as short levels are charasteristic of the original version also.

Both music and SFX can be used at the same time. Weird thing is that music has to be enabled manually at the beginning of each level. Because levels are so short there's not nearly enough time to play each tune from start to finnish so I added the music manually on top of SFX and changed next track after each level cluster. I also cut loading between each level.

I played this few times to last boss and lost only one life doing so. Unfortunately losing a life loses selected weapon also and the last boss is impossible to beat without the rocket bomb (counters seeker projectiles). So losing one life while using the rocket bomb is game over if you can't get another upgrade in time. I used one savestate at the begininning of level 18. I'm sure I could finish this game without saves if I wasted more time grinding through the first levels. Besides this small annoying detail c64 port of ARK is quite easy to play.
