The Army's war on drink and drug abuse in its ranks uses a programme of compulsory drug testing to root out offenders. A zero tolerance policy means a soldier testing positive will face discharge, ending his or her military career.

In a special interview with British Forces News Brigadier John Donnelly, the director of Army Personnel Strategy has given a no nonsense assessment of the problems - and the dangers - not only of drug and alcohol abuse, but also of using supplements to boost fitness.

Shirley Swain started by asking him how big the problem of drug abuse is.
