First look
Caught somewhere between BoxVR and Synth Riders Audioshield has been around for much longer in one form or another before landing on the Quest. This is another rhythm / fitness game that requires you to hit targets whilst listening to music.
There are 4 locations that you are able to select and around 20 music tracks that sound like they come from an industrial/dance club background but are all pretty cool, the dance tracks work really well.
The gameplay itself has you holding two shields, one red and one blue and you are to hit the oncoming matching colour orbs as they come towards you, some require a quick jab, others to hold in place for a while or follow the arc of a curve. There are 3 difficulty settings, the first feels extremely slow and simple, I would select normal every time for more of a challenge. On hard, some of the track arrangements feel a little unfair and impossible to contort your arms and reach each orb in time, but this maybe down to practice and learning each track, much like Beat Saber.
I like the visual appearance, it is nice to have a choice of backdrops and none of them impair your view of the incoming orbs, not having fish eyes though, does, as same colour targets will sometimes appear opposite side to each other requiring superhero speed like reactions and elasticity of Mr Tickles arms to reach them.
With a number of great VR rhythm/fitness games already available for the Quest I am not sure if this is different enough to warrant adding to your catalogue. but the tunes are right up my alley.
