The resulting control driving the taxi meant fewer crashes. I'd regained a feel of the game and driving with a WASD key map. After ramming the several mafia cars setting a road block on a bridge, I barrelled our way through even though hitmen leaning out from car windows and constantly peppered my taxi with lead.
In the excitement, took me (Tommy the cabbie) a while to remember that [Tab] opened the map, to see diamond escape route markers. Whenever the screen started to dim from cab damage, I carefully steered, flooring the gas to put some distance between us and the hitmen.
The opposing mafiso Don had marshalled all his muscle and vehicles to find us, liquidate my passengers, and eliminate me. His "No witnesses" order was extra motivation for me.
Somehow I got us to Little Italy and the sanctuary of Salieri turf. My passengers gotout to enter the "Social Club" HQ bar, saying "Wait here". A couple minutes later, a different man came out bar and handed me a fat envelope.
He said the Don sent his thanks. Remember to ask any time I needed a job. The Don doesn't forget his friends or favors given. Guess my crazy driving to safely deliver my fares qualified as a favor, and me as a "friend".
I waited until I got back to my flat to grab needed sack time. The envelope covered repairing the damage -- almost enough for new cab. There was plenty of dough but still preferred driving a hack in Lost Heaven.

Mafia: Definitive Edition, developed by Hangar 13, is published by 2K Games. An action-adventure game based on the original 2002 video game Mafia by Illusion Softworks, is set in the fictional city Lost Heaven, Illinois during the 1930s. It follows the rise and fall of protagonist Tommy Angelo, a Sicilian-American cab driver turned gangster in the Salieri crime family.
Game play builds on Mafia III features of enhanced mission dynamics and introduces motorcycles as playable vehicles. New voices were cast for English, though some the veteran Czech Mafia voice actors returned in the remake. An original score was created for the Definitive Edition.
When not completing in the primary narrative-advancing Missions, an open world Free Ride mode lets players casually explore the neighborhoods of Lost Heaven. Free Ride exploration removes the linear restrictions found in Mission mode. Players can find hidden side missions and gain collectibles exclusive to Free Ride.
Mafia: Definitive Edition was released on September 25, 2020 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, both individually and as part of the Mafia: Definitive Edition Trilogy pack. The Trilogy also includes remastered Mafia II: Definitive Edition and Mafia III: Definitive Edition with additional story packs.
Mafia: Definitive Edition is ESRB Rated “M”, 17+, for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, Use of Drugs and Alcohol. In-Game Purchases. [It is a game about the 1930's Mafia, resulting in an M rating.]
Critic reviews were generally favorable with praise for revitalizing the story, performances, and graphics, albeit offering some criticism over its animations.
