Checking out the ACLS capability in GraphSim's Hornet 3.0

Excerpt from the manual:

ACLS Coupling
Automatic Carrier Landing System or ACLS is a shipboard ILS system that is calibrated to function in concert with the carrier’s landing deck. It functions in the same way as the ILS coupling does. When aligned for the carrier deck, within 10 NM of the ship, select ILS by pressing “L.” Then couple the auto-pilot by selecting the CPL mode. To activate the auto-pilot press “a” with the CPL option colonized. It is much more critical to maintain the “on speed” AOA airspeed during the carrier approach than the field approach. This ensures proper landing orientation for optimum hook - cross deck pendant engagement.

My first approach is witch ACLS, second is done by hand.

I have to admit ACLS is working pretty well. all you have to do is control the AoA with airspeed by moving the throttle. As you witnessed my ACLS landing was way better than manual landing, although I haven't flown this sim for a long time.

One thing that bothers me though is that the meatball is always colored red. It should be amber, and only red when dangerously low.

If you're wondering how I get this up and running on Windows 10 - I'm using PCem (PC emulator) with Windows 98SE. You can get it here:
