Automation tutorial // Turn Signal // part 9

A turn signal stalk is a lever mounted on a steering column that controls a vehicle's direction indicators, also known as turn signals or blinkers. The stalk is used to indicate a left or right turn by pushing it up or down, respectively.
The turn signal stalk is intuitive to use because it follows the same direction as your hands on the wheel. When you turn the wheel clockwise, you indicate a right turn, and when you turn it counter clockwise, you indicate a left turn.
The turn signal stalk is often part of the vehicle's headlight control system. When the turn signal is on, a plastic lever in the switch engages notches on a hub in the steering shaft. As the wheel turns, the notches hit the lever, which rocks to let each notch pass.
