In this episode, we share how we had a Game Hunting WIN! I show you How $15 Earned Me $100 Towards a Switch OLED thanks to a Facebook Marketplace Gaming Pickup!

I have to admit, I don't do a ton of gaming pickup videos, but when I do I try to pass on some tips and tricks I've learned, either on my own or from others, to help you in your hunt. While my area has a great store in Live Action Games, there aren't any real flea markets or swap meets to be able to get those epic finds like what @PixelGameSquad & @RetroRick find. But from time to time, you can find a deal like I did on Facebook Marketplace.

A local listing popped up in my feed, and in that listing was Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, Wii Party, and some Wii accessories. Best of all, the seller was only asking $15, and if you've been keeping an eye on Wii Game pricing at all lately, you should know that Wii Sports sells for that or higher by itself. The listing had only been live a few hours by the time I found it, so I hoped that I was one of the first to message the seller.

I wasn't.

By the time I reached out, another person had messaged her and agreed to buy the lot. I let her know that, if that buyer fell thru, I would still be interested in buying it. Then I also pulled out a trick that I've seen Retro Rick use himself.

"Do you have any other gaming stuff you're looking to sell?". Then it happened.

"I have a Wii system, we don't use it anymore and I don't know if it works. If you want, you can just have it".

Yes folks, a free Wii, just for being polite. But that wasn't all. I was going to meet up with the seller the next day to pick up the system she messaged me with some terrific news. The other buyer ghosted her, the entire lot, with a system, was now mine! I didn't even argue the price with her (I actually paid her a little more than asking price since I clearly knew the value of what she was selling), and when I picked up the lot I was super thrilled. The disks were scratch-free, the cases had the extra paperwork in it, and overall this was a clean game lot. The system, well, it powered on but I've yet to test it out yet by connecting to a TV. Looking at everything, here's what we wound up with and the Gamestop Trade Values. Why Gamestop? That's where I have my Switch OLED pre-ordered, and this lot will go to help me pay for that.

Wii Sports: $14.30
Wii Sports Resort: $22
Wii Party: $11
Wii Remote (each): $11
Wii Motion Plus (each): $5.50

Now the Wii itself isn't worth anything in Gamestop trade right now, but I can trade it in for store credit at Live Action Games, so when you add up the values of everything I got here, the value is over $100, over an $85 net profit! While part of this is due to someone simply wanting to get rid of something they saw no value in, being kind and inquiring about other gaming items definitely played in my favor. It was also the right thing for me to pay the seller OVER asking price when she included the Wii system, even if it didn't work. I knew the value going into this, and even without the Wii in here I was going to come out ahead. File this under doing the right thing even when no-one is looking and trying to create good karma in the universe.

In the end, I am thankful for an awesome experience with this seller (yes, I gave her an awesome rating on Marketplace). I think I may hang on to Wii Sports Resort, but the rest will help me reduce the cost on my Switch OLED. When you treat others with kindness and respect, you'll often get that back in return, and that's completely what happened here.
