Axiom Verge 2: Drone Softlock While Screen Transitioning

0Don't toss drone upwards as you fall through area transition, it softlocks the game. Can't open the pause menu (game automatically closes it when it opens) but I can view my inventory. Attempts to break the softlock by mashing the button to exit Droid mode doesn't seem to work either.
Windows 10 x64
