Angel Lasala (1914 - 2000) was born in Buenos Aires on May 9, 1914.
He began his musical studies as a child, at the “La Prensa” Conservatory, under the direction of Professor María Rosa Farcy de Montal, graduating in piano, theory and music theory and harmony, and He completed his higher education at the “Carlos López Buchardo” National Conservatory.
He acted as a concert pianist and chamber performer, finally dedicating himself to composition under the direction of maestro Athos Palma. His creation covers a wide range: chamber, symphonic, religious and theatrical music.
He was awarded a scholarship by the Brazilian government in 1960, to carry out studies on Brazilian music, and promote musical exchange between both countries, performing during his residence in Rio de Janeiro, together with his wife, the soprano Zulema Castello, concerts for the dissemination of the Argentine chamber song.
For 25 years he was a Musical Advisor to the National Broadcasting Directorate, developing extensive work on behalf of Argentine composers and performers. He served for several periods as President of the Argentine Association of Composers and, in his last years, presided over the Argentine Academy of Music.
