Enjoy this live excerpt from Diapente's first concert, Munera Offerent: The Christmas Story... Renaissance Style!
This is the first ever recording of Vicente Lusitano's 'Elisabeth Zachariae', and the piece's North American Premiere. Lots of Early Music (Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque) sadly is not recorded yet, we're doing our part to get it out there and heard.
Vicente Lusitano (1520-1561) is a Portuguese composer, music theorist and priest; and is the first Black composer to publish his music in Europe.
Elizabeth, wife of Zechariah,
bore a great man,
John the Baptist,
the forerunner of The Lord.
...who prepared the way of the Lord
in the wilderness.
