New WR By Skeef here, well done sir: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhIsFHE9-jw

Azure Dreams NG+ speedrun using the dupe glitch, the "developer vsync mode" and Shauny's Balloon strats. I did this because a) the newly discovered vsync mode makes this strategy extremely fast and b) so I can say that I've done it. I don't see a very compelling reason to grind this out any further.

This might be a bit perplexing and also kind of an eyesore to watch, so I'll try to explain.

The Balloon has the Fly ability, which takes you to the next floor. However, Balloon's level must be equal to or higher than the level he will take you to. This means that you need a LV40 Balloon to get you all the way to the top. Since NG+ requires that all monsters entering the tower are LV1, the idea is that you dupe Mazarr seeds that level up you or your familiar. Fly is very MP intensive however, and will only allow for a few lifts before Balloon runs out of magic. This is why you also bring a Leolam fruit in the Tower for duping, since it stops MP consumption for several turns.

The dupe glitch allows you to multiply items and it can be done with a Manoeva + Picket combo. The second one is not exactly a glitch, more likely it's a developer vsync mode that was accidentally left in the game. The dupe glitch works as follows:

Transform Manoeva into Picket
Have Manoeva (now in Picket form) steal an item on the ground
Return Picket to bag and bring him back out.
Transform M into P again.
Have Manoeva spit out the item he stole.
Return Manoeva to the bag, bring him out, drop the item, rinse and repeat.
You can change the item you want to dupe by having Picket steal the item back from the Manoeva. Then you just start from scratch with whatever you want to dupe next.

The Vsync mode requires that you've beaten Beldo, and is activated by simply pressing L1+R1 on the second controller while inside the Monster tower, and deactivated by pressing L2+R2. If there aren't several elements on the screen, the game runs immensely fast. If there's a lot of action, it grinds down to a crawl. What I realized is that zooming the camera in as much as you can will make all the animations super quick. Since the vast majority of the run is just menuing and duping items, this probably saves several minutes. It also makes menuing very fast and somewhat unwieldy. I had the glitch activated on a previous Tower visit, which is why everything runs super fast from the get-go. I turned it off only once upon entering the tower to bring out the Balloon and get the first level, since fighting is considerably slower with the mode turned on. Once I got to LV2 I zoomed in, which makes this run a complete eyesore to watch.

Thrown together, these glitches make for a very fast climb up to floor 40. The only real challenge for the run is to menu as fast and accurately as possible and not lose your Mazarr seed count, or accidentally eat the fruits yourself. I had to restart the run a few times because I accidentally ate the Leolam fruit, and also managed to destroy it with the dupe glitch. Beyond that, the only thing I grinded for was to get an early LV2 for the Balloon from a Troll. It took about 10 tries total to get favourable RNG, and it could be a few seconds faster still.

With a little more accurate menuing, you could probably squeeze a sub-16 out of this, but I'm going to leave that for someone else.
