Last year I picked up this new Titano accordion, which features a converter system that lets me switch between using the standard Stradella Bass system and the Quint Free Bass system. I've always wanted to learn free bass on accordion, and I figured there's no better teacher than Bach, so I've been learning this tune to get used to the new layout.

Quint Free Bass is a bit unusual compared to other, more standard free bass systems (e.g. B or C) in that it duplicates the Stradella bass buttons across 3 octaves, meaning the pitches increase horizontally along the button rows instead of vertically.

On one hand, this layout is easy to pick up for accordionists who are already familiar with the Stradella bass button layout. On the other, it means learning new scale and arpeggio patterns for different keys because of where the rows jump octaves. This layout works pretty well with this tune, but I'll have to try playing tunes in a few other keys to see how well I can transfer what I've learned so far.
