Death Stranding is developed by Kojima Productions and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE)(PS4) & 505 Games (Windows/PC edition in 2020).
The game is set in the United States during the aftermath of the Death Stranding, which caused destructive creatures, called Beached Things (BT for short), from a realm between life and death to begin roaming the Earth. We play as Sam Bridges (Norman Reedus), a courier tasked with delivering supplies to the fractured and isolated colonies that remain and try to reconnect them via a wireless communications network (though he doesn't realy like working directly under the president's right hand man, Die-Hardman).
Death Stranding is an action game set in an open world, and also includes asynchronous online functions.
Some people also call it a "hiking simulator", "zipline simulator" or "pizza delivery simulator" and while I can't say they are wrong, I can't say they are right either. It contains all these elements, but is also more than that.
