Backlog Resolution: Zoeti (Story Mode Gameplay)
I suppose I could have made this a full game playthrough just making my way through the story, but honestly, I've played enough over about 3 hours total to know that the game isn't bad, but it's another roguelite that isn't really going to keep me coming back for more. Kind of just how roguelites work for me. If you like the characters and general vibe of the game, though, it might before you. The systems are easy enough to learn, and there was only one notable glitch I kept coming across where clicking to advance dialouge would sometimes skip an entire dialouge box at the end of a conversation. Very strange. Overall, this game is just okay to me.
Zoeti is a roguelite card-based RPG from 2023. Published by Dusklight Games (formerly RNOVA Studio), the game uses some lovely art and lighthearted characters to create a "Slay the Spire" style journey through numerous routes of battles and encounters in a fantasy world that more or less checks all the boxes. The game's most unique aspect is the poker hand based attack system, with the ability to unlock new potential actions that can be assigned to a number of possible poker hands and used in combination until your hand runs out. The game is a satisfying gameplay experience, but might leave you wanting a bit more in ways that aren't really addressed by playing more and more runs.
