Backrooms Escape Together [Update 0.10.3]!
Major update for 'Backrooms Escape Together' – now running version 0.10.3!
We decided to do a complete walkthrough to explore all the changes and see if we still have what it takes to escape. With this update, the game has been refined across the board: improved performance, smoother gameplay, bug fixes, and new items. But the most exciting additions are Level 3 (Electrical Station) and Level FUN!, which were previously only accessible in the beta version.
Below are some observations and comparisons with the previous build. Spoiler-free, but if you want to explore everything fresh, feel free to skip this and dive into the gameplay.
1:00 Level 0 | The Lobby
Still the endless yellow maze we know, but now with incidentally items scattered around. The Lifeform encounter feels noticeably more intense. There's a genuine jump in tension that fans of the previous build will definitely notice.
11:20 Level 1 | Habitable Zone
Not a lot has changed structurally, but AI behavior seems slightly improved. The pacing feels tighter, and the atmosphere is more claustrophobic than before.
19:30 Level 3 | Electrical Station
This one's brand new for most players outside the beta! A dark, industrial environment filled with puzzles and high-stress navigation. Very different from earlier levels in tone, expect constant tension. This level has seen major improvements in AI behavior (not spawning in walls or circling around the entrance of a floor waiting to ambush the player ;)).
34:20 Level 2 | Dream Pipes
Still Dream Pipes, a dark, maze-like, and disorienting level. No major changes here, but it remains a solid transitional level that keeps the tension simmering.
47:30 Level 4 | Abandoned Offices
Still gives off heavy liminal vibes. Lighting and sound design seem upgraded. Encounters feel more randomized, adding replay value and unpredictability.
1:08:50 Level 6 | LIDAR
Absolutely an atmospheric level. It’s now even more immersive with better lighting effects and slightly reworked mapping. Notable differences are more encounters with the stalker entity and the presence of those annoying small holes where you can fall through (making navigation more tricky and increase change of lethality)
1:21:00 Level 37 | Poolrooms
More detailed textures, enhanced reflections, and a smoother ambiance overall. A peaceful level, but still gives off that uncanny edge.
1:29:12 Level ! | Run
Same chaotic sprint-for-your-life feel, but with better hit detection and visual cues. It’s still a nerve-wracking ride.
1:32:55 Level FUN!
Finally out of beta! It’s creepy, deceptive, and absolutely lives up to its name. Compared to the Beta there seem to be many graphical improvements and definitely more coins available (previous build was a nightmare when you ran out of coins). There is also a new ending! The cake is a lie!
