Welcome, everybody, to the final act of my Baldur’s Gate playthrough series with my fighter-thief character, Toby. This will be the follow up to my Baldur’s Gate 2 series that ended in early 2020. However, there will be one main difference in the format of this series to how I did the Baldur’s Gate 1 and Shadows of Amn.

For various narrative and thematic reasons as well as a few realistic recording ones I will not be doing journal entry episodes in this series. From what little I know of the game’s story, it is rather fast-paced and moves from one big, epic story moment to another rather fast so it would feel kind of odd to stop for entire episodes to do journal entries. Also, because I had to port my saves over to the Enhanced Edition from the original, I am no longer able to do custom journal entries in the game so I would have to do it in a different game which would be more than a little tricky so I just decided not to bother.

As was the case in Baldur’s Gate 2, this playthrough is entirely blind although I have watched bits and pieces of a few LPs so I do know the odd story element already.

By this point, Toby is quite the hardened veteran warrior and not nearly as trusting as he used to be. With that said, he is still a genuinely good person and fundamentally a nice person, he’s just not quite as willing to take it as given that everyone he meets is as good as he is compared to how he was when his journey began.

As far as mods go, I do have some of the modifications from the BG2 Tweaks Anthology installed but that’s basically it for mods. This playthrough is largely vanilla so no extra companions or anything like that. Tweaks Anthology: https://www.gibberlings3.net/mods/tweaks/tweaks
