Sometime in 2009, Butch Hartman sketched out some funny drawings about the Bansen monster and Mikey's boy, which then turned into something more, which became a real concept for a television program that includes various social issues and raises important topics of different cultures.
The Bansen Monster is an American animated series about an eccentric blue-colored animal named Bansen, who begins attending Mcldunk High School, which previously only allowed humans. However, despite various strange prejudices against animals, the Bansen Monster makes friends with the boy Mikey Munro, as well as his preschool friend Darcy, who does not always take the side of good. They, along with their comrades and other minor characters, experience funny stories from school life, get into various adventures, and also fight with a student named Amanda, who wants to rid society of the Bansen family.
In this cartoon world, two cultures will converge: animal and human, when one wants to merge into the other, despite prohibitions and superstitions. The main characters stand out from the rest because they have no prejudices. Mikey Munro, as a representative of the human race, is trying to help his best friend reduce pressure from other people, so he helps with simple human tasks and things: they do homework together, eat in the school cafeteria and control the crazy inner monster that lives in Bansen when he tastes beetroot. In addition, he explores the world of monsters, and also becomes a welcome guest in his friend's house and family. Bansen discovers different human traditions, performs human tasks, and also confronts the girl Amanda Killman, who considers him dangerous and is trying to destroy him at any cost.
