Will Friedle, famous for his role as Corey Matthew's older brother Eric on Boy Meets World, was cast to play Terry McGinnis in his first ever voice-acting role. He has since gone on to voice Lion-O, Blue Beetle, Ron Possible, Green Arrow, and many more.

After Joel Schumacher gave Batman nipples, Warner Brothers was eager to reboot the Caped Crusader. Boaz Yakin, director of Remember the Titans, collaborated with series writers Paul Dini and Alan Burnett on a live-action Batman Beyond script, but ultimately, Warner dropped it for Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy.

In countries abroad, "Batman Beyond" was retitled "Batman of the Future". In fact, the working title for the series was "Tomorrow Knight", then later changed to "Batman Tomorrow" but the studio worried this would make promos for the show confusing. "On today's episode of Batman Tomorrow... today."

The producers originally planned for Mr. Freeze to appear as a disembodied, but still living, head in a Bat Cave freezer and Terry would find it while fetching a drink. It was scrapped as an unfitting end for the popular villain and he was reintroduced with a new mechanical body in the Season 1 episode "Meltdown".

Even though the studio kept pushing for it, the writers of Batman Beyond refused to make Matt McGinnis, Terry's younger brother, the new Robin. The studio even suggested giving Matt a motorcycle hidden behind a secret dumpster. Thankfully, the writers left those ideas hidden in the secret dumpster where they belonged.
