When Gears of War 4 was in early development with Epic Games, the estimated budget was around $100 million. For this reason, the IP was sold to Microsoft because if Gears 4 was anything less than a smash hit, it would bankrupt the company.

Head of the Coalition, Rod Fergusson has a tattoo of the Crimson Omen, the gear and skull logo from the Gears of War franchise, although rumors that he will be getting neck-reduction surgery like all the men in Gears of War are completely ridiculous. He does occasionally wear Marcus Fenix’s do-rag, however.

The Berserker in Gears 1 is a Locust female chained down for breeding, a notion that designer Cliff Bleszinski recently admitted was "****** up" and he was in a dark place, presumably due to his messy divorce which inspired much of the game's development.

For Gears of War 3, Epic sold two opposing t-shirts to determine the fate of Delta Squad Rookie, Clayton Carmine. Your purchase not only cast your vote to either "Save Carmine" or "Kill Carmine", but all proceeds went to the Child's Play charity. Oh and Carmine was saved in case anyone was worried he'd end up like Jason Todd.

In Gears of War, the developers originally intended Lieutenant Minh Young Kim to be female and also wanted to let players choose Dom's gender as either Dominic or Dominique, but the first playable female character wouldn't arrive until Gears 3 with the introduction of ol' band-aid-eye, Private Samantha Byrne.
