Batman surprend une conversation entre le commissaire Gordon et un officier de police : Jack Napier se serait retranché dans une usine avec ses sbires. Ni une, ni deux : Bat’ fonce tête baissée (il est habitué puisqu’il dort la tête en bas) dans ce qu’il devine être un piège. Il va rapidement mettre fin aux tergiversations de Napier… qui va pourtant parvenir à s’enfuir, affreusement défiguré. Les deux hommes (?) se retrouveront alors bien plus tard… au sommet d’une bien triste cathédrale.
