Batman (PC Engine) Playthrough - NintendoComplete
A complete playthrough of Sunsoft's 1989 PC Engine (TurboGrafx 16) puzzle/maze game, Batman.
Even though this was a Japanese only release, the little bit of the text to be found in the game is all in English. This is the little known third of the Sunsoft Batman game triplets based on the (incredible) `89 cinema reboot of the series. The gameplay is nothing like the NES or the Genesis version, replacing platforming action with a maze/collect the object style gameplay, but the style is more than you could ask for in this type of game.
The music is beyond awesome, especially the tunes remixed from the NES version. In terms of sound capabilities, this is probably the best comparison (between the NES and the TG16) that I could imagine. This abuses the $#!* out of the Turbo's ability to do digital playback, and sounds precisely as good as you would expect from late 80s Sunsoft.
And the cinematics.... oh man. Way, WAAAAYYYYY beyond anything in the other two games, even if they are lamentably short. And the ending... haha! Just wait until the end of the credits... I don't think I've ever seen a finish quite like this game goes out on. Super sweet especially because of Sunsoft's legendary use of the sweet orchestra hit, right on cue.
I don't like this game overall as much as I do the NES version, but I'd say it's right on par with the Genesis game (even though they couldn't be more different).
