In order to do this easily (and keep in mind that I wasn't that well prepared either), have someone with the Impatient trait and the Undead Trophy, and have them run forward to block the Direwolves. Some might still get through, but your archers should be able to attack the Hexen on the first turn if you do it correctly. With some luck and good archers, the Hexen will be dead quickly, making the rest of the fight a joke. I recommend having a very high resolve Sergeant next to your archers, to prevent them from getting charmed. Increasing resolve on everyone through armor, accesories and other means is fine, although not necessary if you do it this way. I also recommend doing this later than I did, so you can have better archers and kill the Hexen as fast as possible. You also need to make sure your archers have high initiative, so they can attack before the Hexen can do anything. This was done on Expert/Expert, on day 233.
