Battletech: Fury Class DropShip (The Mechwarrior Dropship Guide)
Battletech: Fury Class DropShip (The Mechwarrior Dropship Guide)
The Fury class DropShip is one of the smallest DropShips operated by the armies of the Successor States. Originally launched in 2638 and massing 1,850 tons, the modern Fury class vessel can deliver four platoons of fully equipped infantry and eight light vehicles onto the battlefield.
Three Fury vessels normally operate together with armor-carrying Gazelle Class DropShips. Though it lacks adequate protection for raids or planetary assaults, it is often used for such missions. Larger vessels, such as the Condor and Triumph, are too valuable and too vulnerable to risk in such roles, At least one Leopard CV or other Fighter carrier usually escorts Fury ships to make up for the latter's lack of Fighter-carrying capacity.
Fury DropShips are normally deployed in a tight formation 20,000 to 50,000 kilometers behind a DropShip assault group. This formation allows all three Fury DropShips to concentrate their firepower on the attacking group. If the formation is disrupted, enemy Fighters can single out one ship at a time.
Battletech: The Mechwarrior Dropship Guide should provide basic information about Dropships and their role in the interstellar travel. If you are in a Successor State of the Great Houses, the Clan Occupation Zones or on Holy Terra. From the Inner Sphere to the Periphery and the Clan Home worlds, every Mechwarrior can use this information to learn about Battletech lore and Battletech history.
Drop-ships are the workhorse of interstellar travel.
All-important classes will be introduced and their features (aerodyne/ spheroid, Docking Collar, KFFC Boom, Mech Bay, fighter cubicle, …) explained. You will see, that in the BattleTech universe, BattleMechs are not the pinnacle of technology.
