BeamNG.drive Alternative Encoding Settings
810What is this video about? It's what I might be using as my encoding settings for the future. So I'd appreciate it if you leave feedback on it.
The issue I always have is that if you are using something that doesn't support the VP9 codec (such as firefox) you will get absolutely awful macro blocking in high detail scenes roughly every 5 seconds for about 0.5 seconds if the video quality is too high. (Most notable at about 10 seconds in this video).
There is a solution for that though, and that solution is encoding the video at a lower bitrate (and thereby worse quality) so you have to find the right balance where the macroblocking (basically when the video gets really blurry) is minimized while maintaining as high of video quality as possible.
I changed a few settings here and there from previous videos so the macroblocking is a little bit worse, BUT I think the overall visuals are much improved on VP9 supported players.
Another big issue is I really don't know how many people use VP9 vs those who don't. So yeah... I just really am not sure about anything anymore.
