BeamNG.Drive - SBR4 Tandem Drifting Edit! (DaVinci Resolve Composite)
Testing composite editing techniques with the free DaVinci Resolve to create a tandem drifting scene in post using two separate replays. Considering the camera had to be repositioned in each replay, I'd say the results are fairly impressive. The biggest issue I notice is that the replays have slight stuttering to them, which when they fall out of sync is especially noticeable in the composite. Also had to speed up the yellow car a bit before the drift with editing so it wasn't so far behind in the tandem, since it's hard to visualize a leading car that isn't there (especially when you aren't great at drifting like I am).
My tips for anyone wanting to try this would be to try and record all of your runs in a single replay so there's no repositioning of the camera, as you'll never get it perfectly right in the exact place and any degree of difference in the environment between footage will lower the quality and increase your editing workload. If you want to keep the smoke and tire marks on both runs, or use a dynamic camera ... good luck.
