Beat Saber Review
3Beat Saber is a masterpiece. If you own a VR headset you have to play it! If you know someone with a VR headset, ask them to play this game! It’s one of the best VR games out there.
The best way to describe beat saber is to compare it to Guitar Hero. Cubes come your way and you need to slash them with your sabers. The principle is simple, but the game gets challenging since you have two colored cubes, one for each saber color, and cubes have little arrows on them that indicate how you have to slice them. Also there are levels where the arrows fade away and you have to remember the symbol.
The campaign is lengthy and challenging. It pits you into challenges like reach a minimum high score, or reach a minimum combo, or finish the song without that many mistakes.
And if you’re not into challenges, you can have fun in the solo and party options. There you can select from the game’s entire content how you want to roll. You even get more options to turn off to make your game easier. Also in party there are more songs than in the campaign. And you can buy new songs. The songs in the campaign are EDM, and I like them. I’ve seen reviewers complain about the music, but for my tastes, it was good.
Also it’s nice that you can change the color of your sabers and you get multiple stages where you slash cubes.And you can change the color and the stage whenever you want.
As for difficulty, it’s just like guitar hero. Easy is easy, and the hardest, expert +, is, crazy. I mean look at this dude.
Also I have to mention that if you can, buy the PC version. The Playstation VR version is nice, but it’s limited to what you get with the game and what you can download from the Playstation Store, whereas on PC you have mods, and the number of custom songs you can install is unlimited.
So yeah, the best version is definitely the PC one. But even on the Playstation VR, this is a must get. I mean it’s a unique experience, the music is good, the gameplay is good, and it has infinite replay value.
