Let's talk about a console that can be played either portably or on a TV, plays games off of cartridges, has disappointing battery life, and can even play some Sonic The Hedgehog games! While this may sound like the Nintendo Switch, this is actually a description of the Sega Nomad (or Sega Genesis Nomad or even Sega Project Venus), a handheld game console released by Sega in 1995 that, well, it absolutely flopped. So, today on Stuff We Play, we're going over its history, its legacy, and the hardware itself! That's right: Before Nintendo Switch There Was Sega Nomad!

Special thanks for Robert and Abby Hornibrook for donating the Sega Nomad to the channel!

Special thanks to my Dad as well for answering all my questions about in-flight entertainment systems on Asia-based airlines. For context, he used to work in the airline industry, spending a good chunk of my childhood working for Singapore Airlines, and is the one other person I know who actually knows what a Sega Mega Jet is!
