Berlin U-Bahn (Trip to Europe)
A collection of videos of U-Bahn trains at various stations around Berlin.
0:00 - An eastbound U1 train arrives at Uhlandstraße U-Bahn Station, ready to begin service towards Warschauer Straße, while another terminating westbound train arrives on the other side of the platform. I take a quick look inside an empty car in the first U1 train.
0:52 - A westbound U2 train departs Nollendorfplatz U-Bahn Station. Not all parts of the U-Bahn are underground, and some stations like Nollendorfplatz are elevated.
1:19 - A southwest-bound U3 train for Krumme Lanke arrives at the brightly-lit Heidelberger Platz U-Bahn Station.
1:39 - A northwest-bound U6 train for Alt-Tegel arrives at a busy platform at Leopoldplatz U-Bahn Station.
1:52 - A southbound U8 train for Boddinstraße arrives and departs at Pankstraße U-Bahn Station, then a northbound U8 train for Osloerstraße arrives in the other direction.
3:27 - A southbound U9 train for Rathaus Steglitz arrives and departs from Spichernstraße U-Bahn Station.
Of the other three U-Bahn lines, I did not get a chance to ride the U4, but I did ride short segments of the U5 and U7 lines. However, I forgot to record videos for these lines. The U5 stations would have made for great videos, as their architecture is reminiscent of GDR-era East Berlin with higher ceilings and interesting wall tiling patterns. Maybe next time. :)
Recorded on my iPad on various days in January 2014.
