Best GoPro Vlogging Setup - Hero 8 Black + Media Mod & RODE VideoMic NTG External Shotgun Microphone
So in this video I'm using what is arguably the best vlogging microphone, the RODE VideoMic NTG with the GoPro Hero 8 Black. Not only does this pairing make for the best GoPro vlogging setup in my opinion but it's also possible that because of it's wide field of view and awesome stabilization, the GoPro Hero 8 Black may well be the best vlogging camera for on the move hand held selfie vlogging.
Yes, the GoPro Hero 8 Black does have its issues, just as every camera does but on balance and with the right settings, it creates a great picture. I doubt many people will argue about the two main factors that put the Hero 8 head and shoulders above many other cameras used for vlogging, its field of view or FOV and its stabilization. Both of these functions on the Hero 8 are truly awesome.
While there are more compact and smaller microphones than the RODE VideoMic NTG, it definitely is a great mic in its own right but used for vlogging, it's seen by many as the best vlogging microphone. With the VideoMic NTG being a shotgun microphone, its cardioid polar pattern really does help to focus on your voice and dialogue when vlogging, while helping to reject other sounds around you. Although I'm using the VideoMic NTG as a vlogging mic in this setup with the GoPro. The RODE VideoMic NTG can be used for many other types of sound recording and many other recording scenarios for voice and dialogue. The RODE WS11 deadcat is also a big help.
With the Media Mod having a 3.5mm mic jack input socket it can accommodate many different external microphones. In there are many videos with different external mics for the GoPro, I'm sure that you'll find the best external vlogging for the GoPro if you don't agree that the RODE VideoMic NTG is it.
