Best NEW Feature Of iPadOS 15 ProRes Compatibility
In this video I give examples of what I consider to be the best new feature of iPadOS and that is the ability to now play and edit ProRes.
In the video I'm using the iPad Pro M1 2021, which is of course using the Apple Silicon M1 processor, and LumaFusion to play the various ProRes files. The ProRes files being used are 4K 60FPS and I've used ProRes Proxy, ProRes LT, ProRes 422, ProRes HQ and also ProRes 4444. All these ProRes files were exported from DaVinci Resolve.
I'm still unsure if this use of ProRes in iPadOS and ProRes in iOS is being achieved by using extra hardware acceleration for rendering, decoding and encoding ProRes. I will find this out soon as I will try the exact same thing by using iPadOS on an iPad Pro 2020 which uses the Apple A12Z Bionic processor SoC. I will also try ProRes on iOS when I get my iPhone 13 Mini which uses Apple's A15 processor and I will try the same with iPadOS on the iPad Mini 6 2021 which also uses an A15 processor.
Here's the chapters for this video.
