Editing Atomos Ninja V ProRes 4K Footage Direct From SSD On iPad Pro M1 2021 In Lumafusion iPadOS 15
48So a real simple video with massive implications. Here I'm editing ProRes 422 HQ video footage direct from the SSD from an Atomos Ninja V using LumaFusion 3 on an Apple iPad Pro M1 2021 that's been updated to iPadOS 15.
This footage was recorded HDR 4K 60FPS on the Ninja V, again, using ProRes 422 HQ and edited 4K 60FPS HDR HDR10 PQ in LumaFusion V3.
While ProRes was always seen and able to be edited by many NLEs on the Mac platform with MacOS and with the latest Apple Silicon M1 Macs such as the MacBook Air M1, MacBook Pro M1, Mac Mini M1 and iMac M1. This is the first time we've been able to edit ProRes on iPad and to my knowledge LumaFusion is one of the first, maybe the first, NLE app on iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 that can edit ProRes.
This is obviously down to iPadOS 15 and iOS 15. It may also require certain hardware functionality, something I will test on the iPad Pro 2020 with its A12Z Bionic SoC processor when I update it to iPadOS 15 and I will try the same on the iPhone 13 Mini and iPad Mini 6 2021 when I get them. The iPhone 13 and iPad Mini both use variations of the Apple A15 Bionic processor SoC but importantly will be using iOS 15.
Anyway. This video should also help for people to see just what they can get away with using the AWESOME LumaFusion app by Luma-Touch.
