Its been so long since i played a good BF2 mod set in the Vietnam war, one of my favourite scenarios to cover in both a game and a mod, and with that said, Vietnam Holiday v0.3 mod is finally here.

The mod itself comes with a variety of maps, some of them actual remakes from the original Battlefield Vietnam like operation Flaming Dart and the Battle of ia Drang, for the nostalgic BF Vietnam veterans out there like me.

Each map's loading screen comes out with some nice and excellent 1960s songs to entertain yourself while the maps are getting ready, once you're in the game you'll be welcomed with a huge variety of guns in each faction for you to choose, M16A1's CAR-15's AK-47's Chinese Type-56 rifles, even WW2 guns, the sky is the limit.

Vehicle combat is fine, however beware of AA guns, they are overpowered and can destroy you in like three hits or less!

Now all of this sounds great right?? Unfortunately there's some major flaws that can potentially ruin your experience in this mod, so lets talk about the negatives..

The biggest one? STABILITY ISSUES. The mod will often crash randomly a lot of times, either when loading a map or when you're playing 3 minutes into the game and it seriously harms this mod's potential, its frustrating and it would be better if more fixes to this problem we're present in future updates, its almost like BF2's Korean War mod..

PR REALISTIC GUNPLAY: The mod itself presents realistic PR gunplay, however..more often you'll get shot and see suppression effects on your screen that can pretty much blindfold you all the time and get you killed, if i was playing Project Reality then fine, but for me this isn't PR and seeing that suppression mechanic in this mod made gunplay pretty much annoying and not satisfactory, since most of the time you'll be fighting your enemies up close and personal, with some maps being small for Infantry combat only, adding the problem of PR's realistic recoil, which triying to land a hit can be difficult.

SOME MAPS CRASH THE GAME: i mentioned it before, some maps straight out dont work, they crashed while loading them, which affects the mod's content volume, you'll end up playing on very few maps that are stable enough if they don't crash to desktop 5 mins in..

With all of this that i mentioned, BF2's Vietnam Holiday mod can be fun..and also a pain in the butt to play. It needs to be fixed in some areas, then it might be a perfect Vietnam War mod.

FINAL SCORE: 6.2/10 (In its current state)

If you're desperate for the release of BF2 Vietnam Mod and can't wait to jump into something similar, this mod might help..but only for a few hours.

Wait until all the fixes come and then it will be much more playable.
