Google eyes Windows with Snapdragon-powered Android laptops
Google is preparing to step into the PC arena, teaming up with Qualcomm to launch a new line of Android laptops and desktops. OpenAI launches “Pulse” for Pro users
OpenAI is positioning ChatGPT as more than a chatbot with the rollout of Pulse, a personalized AI-driven morning briefing. First available to Pro subscribers ($200/month), Pulse delivers five to ten tailored updates ranging from news highlights to schedule reminders ready for users when they wake up. The move aligns with OpenAI’s broader push into personal AI assistants, alongside tools like ChatGPT Agents and Codex. A wider release to Plus users is expected later.
Meta bets on “Vibes” to take on TikTok and Reels
Meta is once again gunning for short-form video dominance with Vibes, an AI-powered feed that lets users create, remix, and share videos. Accessible via the Meta AI app and meta.ai, Vibes supports everything from adding music and graphics to generating clips from scratch. Users can publish directly on the platform or cross-share to Instagram Reels and Facebook. The launch is Meta’s latest effort to supercharge engagement and keep pace with TikTok and YouTube Shorts.
U.S. issues emergency directive after Cisco firewall breach
The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has sounded the alarm following a large-scale cyberattack exploiting a zero-day flaw in Cisco ASA 5500-X firewalls. Linked to China’s ArcaneDoor espionage program, the breach poses severe risks to government and corporate networks worldwide. Agencies have been instructed to immediately patch systems, scan devices, and bolster defenses. The incident underlines how attackers are increasingly exploiting network edge devices to infiltrate critical infrastructure.
Qualcomm expands India investments across R&D, mobility, and wearables
Qualcomm is deepening its India bet with fresh investments in research, smart eyewear, mobility, and automotive technology. Savi Soin, President of Qualcomm India, highlighted the country’s strong hardware and semiconductor ecosystem as a driver of innovation. With demand for 5G PCs and connected devices on the rise, Qualcomm plans to strengthen ties with Indian OEMs and showcase its role in fueling digital transformation at the upcoming 2025 India Mobile Congress.
