The highly popular Binary Land game with all 99 levels crammed into the memory of af ZX Spectrum 16k..?? Yes! So dust off your 16k machine and enjoy this new release! Binary Land is a game created in 1983 by Kikuta Masaaki and published by the Hudson Soft company for the MSX, FM-7, NEC PC-6001, NEC PC-8801, and in 1985 for the Famicom console (Japanese Nintendo NES), this time changing the human protagonists with penguins.
The game was earlier this year released in a 48/128k version and walkthrough and review of this version can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqKaJLE9o5E&feature=youtu.be
Info about 16k version:
"Screen size had to be reduced considerably to fit everything, so graphics are half the size and frames, and also to be able to use that same "empty" screen as memory for graphics, levels and code. The level data of this game consist on 16 different layouts that keep combining between them and repeating during the game. Those layouts fit in 306 bytes and then, with just 300 bytes more you have the info for the whole 100 levels. Every level is a 3 byte information which specifies: left layout, right layout, number of spiders, number of fires and position of hidden item. In the 16K version, the keys are not remapable, so you must use WASD and SPACE or you can select the control type once at the beginning, but you can rotate through the different options with the K key during game play if you change your mind."
The game was made by Joflof in 2020.
