Written First Impressions
1. Type of Game – Bioshock is a 1st person shooter with RPG elements. Basically you level up your character as you go making choices on what new abilities to add and enhance.
2. Is the story good? Bioshock story is exceptional. It tells you the past story of Rapture through recordings, while you’re living the present story of Rapture and also affecting it with moral choices.
Bioshock starts with you being in air plane crash and discovering a lighthouse – which leads to an underwater city – that is very, very wrong.
3. Excitement level
Bioshock remastered does a fantastic job keeping you engaged and guessing while you’re playing. It gives you new plasmids, new skills, new enemies, and roller coaster ride story that keeps you off balance – when you think you know what going on, everything changes.
4. Controls
The controls are fine-tuned from the original Bioshock. I really appreciate how the 60 frames a second improves aiming and fluidity of combat.
5. Graphics
The remaster looks good and the 1080p 60fps gives the game a familiar, but fresh feel. Gameplay feels smoother than the original.
6. Sound
The soundtrack this game is good with period music
The games sound is good
The voice acting is what sets this game apart. The splicers you fight and also the audio recording are interesting and well done.
7. Is this game repetitive
No way, this game is constantly giving you more weapons, powers, skills, new enemies and locations.
8. What I really like:
The story. Bioshock remastered tells a strange tale that you’re experiencing but also affecting.
Gameplay variety and player choice – you enter new situations where you need to figure out the best way to attack. What gun do you use? What ammo do you use? What plasmid do you use? Do I use stealth or guns blazing?
9. Dislikes: the only thing I’d like is slightly more responsive controls – it seems like plasmids have a little lag from pull trigger to fire. But they fixed that in Bioshock 2.
10. Am I going to keep playing?
Absolutely, I honestly have trouble setting it down. The remaster feels familiar but different – kinda like seeing the original Star Wars trilogy on Blu-ray.
11. Rent, Buy, or Pass
Buy, right now. I’ve done “First 30mins” on all 3 games and they all look and play phenomenal.
