Bir Billing Ride Part 2 | Paragliding, Monastery & Triumph Bonneville T120 | Indian Explorer
Welcome back to the second part of our incredible motorcycle journey to Bir Billing! This time, we take the adventure up a notch with some thrilling experiences and peaceful moments. Riding my Triumph Bonneville T120, I explored the stunning landscapes, embraced the thrill of paragliding, and soaked in the serenity of a beautiful monastery. Let me take you through this unforgettable chapter of the ride.
The Journey Continues
Starting from Bir, the early morning chill made the ride on my Bonneville T120 even more exhilarating. The road to Billing is a motorcyclist’s dream, offering scenic views, sharp turns, and the perfect mix of adventure and tranquility. Triumph’s power and comfort made every mile effortless and enjoyable.
As the second part of our journey unfolded, we made our way to the paragliding launch site at Billing. Bir Billing is renowned as the Paragliding Capital of India, attracting adventure enthusiasts from across the globe. It’s ranked among the top 10 paragliding sites in the world, and the experience truly lives up to the hype!
The Paragliding Experience
Paragliding at Billing was nothing short of breathtaking. We soared high above the lush green valley, with panoramic views of the Dhauladhar mountain range and the serene villages below. The flight lasts about 15-30 minutes, depending on the wind conditions, and every second is filled with awe.
Did you know that Bir Billing hosted the Paragliding World Cup in 2015? This place is a haven for both beginners and experienced paragliders. The takeoff site is at Billing (2,400 meters), while the landing site is at Bir (1,525 meters), offering a thrilling descent.
For anyone planning to visit, make sure to book your slots in advance, especially during peak seasons. October to June is the ideal time for paragliding here, with favorable weather conditions enhancing the experience.
A Visit to the Monastery
After the adrenaline rush, it was time to unwind and embrace peace. We visited the Chokling Monastery, a significant landmark in Bir. The monastery is a symbol of Tibetan culture and spirituality, featuring stunning architecture and vibrant murals that depict Buddhist teachings.
Walking around the monastery grounds, I felt a sense of calm and introspection. The fluttering prayer flags, the rhythmic chants, and the cool mountain breeze made this visit truly magical. Bir has a rich Tibetan heritage, being home to a significant Tibetan refugee settlement, and the monastery reflects this beautifully.
