This week I consider the current direction Nintendo seems to be taking with their first party franchises.

With the release of Hyrule Warriors last month, and the announcement of Pokkén, the Tekken, Pokémon crossover, it's clear Nintendo is testing the waters with loaning out characters into other popular series.

On top of that, we have Nintendo characters popping up in each other's games. Mariokart 8 DLC features Zelda and Animal Crossing themes, Bayonetta 2 has Link, Peach and Samus skins, and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate features Samus costumes. That combined with the release of Amiibo functionality hints at further invasions by Nintendo IPs into each other's games. It's an interesting decision by a Nintendo, but is it the right one?
