After Edward helps the Governor in defending him against the Assassins' ambush, Sage attempts to flee from their hold and Edward stops that from happening.
Governor Torres generously reward Edward with 1000 Reals which, according to Edward, is a meager amount.
Edward, being displeased by the reward, decides to find and take a look at the observatory for himself. He already learned that it is a device with extraordinary capabilities and he wanted to acquire and sell it to the highest bidder to become the richest pirate in the world. So, he infiltrates into the location where Sage was imprisoned to question him about the Observatory.
