Black Lake Gameplay! In this episode we give this prototype another try! We follow the paw prints, until they stop. Near a bush, you can see some shiny thing drawing you in, it isn't part of the environment, it is a clue.(2:15) You walk up to it, it is a broken branch, which somehow unveils more paw prints. This leads to a blue thistle (2:40), then after walking a bit more, you find more paw prints, related or unrelated to that blue thistle you just decided to notice out loud. Those paw prints lead you up a hill, where the prints stop at a fork in the path. If you pick the correct path at that fork (middle) you will find more paw prints eventually.

The Fox turned North. Eww whats that smell, you say. (4:15) Then after this comes a lot of death! Mutant Fox beasts! More paw prints bring you to a dead Deer carcass! Then you see a purple (?) ghost of the fox running North. You follow it, to come to a river. "The prints end here, probably went for a swim" (7:20) After this you see another purple ghost of the Fox run across the river, then it disappears. You follow the main path, which seems obvious, until it splits into many directions, it seems like 4 (2 north that meet up right away, one east and one south southeast) paths, but I'm not entirely sure, they are all basically the same path. I follow the one that goes North, and I see a shiny thing in the distance (similar to the other "story progressing" clues). This is the beard of Andy Wood on a White Birch, a nod to one of the other prototypes. After that I walk and walk and walk. Yea.

I remember all this talk about the player using an accordion to do mystical things in the pitch, and remember watching the guy record the accordion, but I never got to any accordion part.....This prototype's lack of presentation value while ironically focusing so heavily on art style confuses me so much. I truly want to like this, and hoped it wasn't going to turn out an unplayable mess. I will try again later and hopefully get at least to the accordion part, if it even exists anyways! :D



Black Lake is a prototype by Double Fine. It is an adventure where you play a girl walking through a forest, trying to cleanse nightmares from possessed forest animals. You walk through a forest and there is even a black lake. The lead on this project was Levi Ryken.
