Black Myth: Wukong: How to Beat the Most Difficult Boss in Chapter 1? – Whiteclad Noble: Tips Tricks
Alright folks, let's talk about one of the tougher bosses in Black Myth: Wukong—the Whiteclad Noble. This boss took me quite a while to beat, and honestly, I had to farm a lot of Sparks and max out my health before I finally managed to take him down. It got so frustrating that I had to record the fight in two parts. But enough about my struggles—let's get into some tips and tricks to help you defeat this boss.
The Whiteclad Noble is located in the Bamboo Grove, near the Marsh of White Mist Shrine. This early-game boss is no pushover, with two health bars and two phases to contend with. If your health is low and your weapon isn’t hitting hard, this fight can be a real challenge. But with patience and strategy, you can bring him down.
First off, if you’re low on Spark points, I highly recommend farming a bit before you take on this boss. You’ll also want to use the Smash Stance—it’s more efficient than the Pillar Stance, which takes too much stamina and leaves you vulnerable to the boss’s relentless attacks.
Make sure you have the Guangzhi transformation ready before the fight. This transformation is a game-changer because it has its own health bar, essentially giving you a second life. Since the Whiteclad Noble has two phases, you can use this transformation midway through the fight to deal a lot of damage without draining your own resources. It’s a great way to get the upper hand, especially when the fight drags on.
Immobilize is another essential tool in this battle. You can stun the boss and deal significant damage during these moments. If possible, invest a point in Crash, one of the talents under the Immobilize spell. This talent increases the damage the boss takes when stunned, making it even more effective.
Don’t forget to upgrade your Healing Gourd at the Shen Monkey. You should be able to get at least one upgrade before this fight, which will allow you to use the Gourd multiple times—crucial for surviving the Noble’s aggressive attacks.
Another important tip: invest in Simian Agility. This skill reduces the stamina cost of dodging, which is vital against the Whiteclad Noble. The boss doesn’t hit particularly hard, but he’s very aggressive and will often put distance between you and him, forcing you to close in quickly to land your combos. Having extra stamina for dodging and attacking is key to maintaining the pressure on him.
When the fight starts, the Whiteclad Noble has a few key moves to watch out for. The first is his dash and swipe. He’ll jump into the air and dash at you, then spin 360 degrees while balancing his polearm before dashing again with a swipe attack. The moment you see him jump, perform a side dodge to avoid getting hit by the 360 spin, and then dodge again to escape the swipe attack. Another move to be cautious of is his AoE water swipe. He’ll charge his spear and swipe it over the water, creating a circular AoE splash. When you see him charging, dodge backward to avoid the splash. This gives you a bit of time to heal or plan your next move.
He’ll also use an attack called Water Blades. The boss will rotate his spear and release a barrage of water blades toward you, finishing with a charge after a short delay. Keep an eye on his hands; the moment he starts rotating his spear is your cue to sidestep all of the water blades. But don’t relax once the blades are gone, because he’ll charge at you right after, and you’ll need to be ready to dodge.
There are times when the Whiteclad Noble will land three consecutive swipes at you, usually when you’re close to him. You can dodge backward to get away from the AoE, but be careful, as the boss can often combo this with the dash and swipe attack, which could catch you off guard.
When you reach Phase 2, the Water Blade attack returns, but now the swipes are horizontal instead of vertical. The dash after the blades is the same as in Phase 1, so the strategy remains consistent—side-dodge the Water Blades and be ready to dodge the dash attack. The Noble will also rush at you, trying to thrust his spear; simply side-dodge this attack to avoid it. He’ll also slam his spear on the ground, releasing a wave of water towards you. Again, side-stepping will protect you from this attack. You’ll notice that some of the attacks from Phase 1, like the AoE water swipe, will make a comeback in Phase 2, so just handle them as you did before.
