I kinda came off a little harsh in this episode, I know. I want to clarify that I still recommend this game as one of the finest free to play competitive FPS titles on the market. I simply question certain rear-end aspects of its model where paid content is concerned. It's always tread perilously close to what I would consider the reasonable ceiling for grind, and the transition to Arc and Hardsuit Labs hasn't improved that situation, nor other aspects of the game, of which I can say the UI is actually worse than it once was. The combat is still fun however, and, normalization issues notwithstanding, some of the new audio changes are even more satisfying than their previous iterations.

That, on top of the visual optimizations, as well as the new maps and equipment, essentially cancel out the problems, leaving Blacklight: Retribution at roughly the same level of quality it's always had. Hopefully, that will improve with time now that it's wrenched from "the drought" of stagnation, especially if it sees some reinvigoration after the patch.

Also, a few things I've learned since this recording:
- The free rotation of weapons and hero characters was removed.
- The ability to permanently acquire weapon components and other equipment with in-game currency was removed, forcing players without Blacklight Prime to rely entirely upon microtransactions and rentals.
- Weapon components are cheaper than they once were; however, purchases are now per-weapon. Accessories owned for one receiver don't carry over to others, and require separate purchases, accounting for the decrease in part prices.
- An exception to the former exists, however, for components purchased pre-parity-patch.
- Arc Account owners whose accounts predate the parity patch have also received Blacklight Prime, a roughly $5 value, for free, which allows one to permanently purchase components and equipment with in-game currency rather than relying solely upon rentals.
