In Wolfenstein 3D, completing an episode feels satisfying because each one ends with a battle against a boss with their own name and appearance, even if most of them fight the same way. Blake Stone tries to do something similar by having you fight some of Dr. Goldfire's most dangerous creations, but they're still just mindless killing machines. The real threat - Goldfire himself - just teleports away to safety no matter when you face him.

Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold is a first person shooter game developed by JAM Productions and published by Apogee Software in 1993 for DOS PCs, and would easily be considered one of the better "clones" of the original Wolfenstein 3D.

In the distant future, the evil Dr. Pyrus Goldfire has been twisting the STAR Institute, and the brilliant scientific minds it employs, toward the creation of genetically engineered mutants. With an army of monsters, Goldfire plans to take over the Earth.. unless Blake Stone, a British secret agent, can stop him!
