A street magician meets a mad scientist who believes in superpowers. Jane Jensen sure knows how to pick the fundamental plot elements.

It took me a bit, but I think I've identified one of the more subtle things that gave this game a similar feel to Gabriel Knight. In both games, while mysterious events are taking place around the town, they essentially hint at all permutations of likely explanations throughout the arc of the storyline, without fully diving into any of them. This allows the player to mull over these ideas and try to guess (usually incorrectly) how the story will unfold.

Unfortunately, I was able to correctly predict whodunnit in this one. I think the game made a mistake in treating all the characters with equal suspicion with the exception of the correct character in Chapter 4. I suppose in theory the correct way to fix it is to put more of a spotlight on this character on that time, in an attempt to blend them in with the others, but the attention itself obviously poses a risk of its own.

Overall though, I had fun with this one. Like GK, the game was a bit longer than I expected, which is always a pleasant surprise.
